The Present

Sentence 1 (character/scene)	Jake was aggressively playing video games on his couch.
Sentence 2 (character/scene)	Jake's mum came home from work but she brang surprise as a present.
Sentence 3 (Conflict)	Jake opened the brown box and out jumped a puppy.
Sentence 4 (Conflict)	Jake carried the puppy but after two minutes Jake noticed the puppy had a missing leg, he threw the puppy on the floor.
Sentence 5 (resolution)	The puppy played with a red squishy ball, he rolled and jumped, getting Jake's attention.
Sentence 6 (how characters have changed)	Later on Jake realised maybe he misjudged the dog so then joyfully they both went into the backyard and played together.

 

The Present,

In the early bright afternoon, Jake was aggressively playing video games on his comfortable couch.Surprisingly, Jake's mum burst through the door and came home from work early but she brang a special surprise in a brown box for Jake.Quickly with joy, Jake opened the brown box and out jump a small light brown puppy. Happily, Jake carried the adorable puppy but after two minutes Jake noticed the puppy had a missing leg, with discus Jake  threw the small puppy on the light grey carpet floor.With no care, the dog played with a red velvet squishy round ball,it was as red as a crayon, he rolled and jumped, getting Jake's attention. Jake couldn’t resist the adorableness of the small light brown puppy, he took a deep breath and let out a big sigh. With curiosity the dog looked up at Jake as he stood up, he too had a missing leg and needed two grey crutches to walk and keep his balance. Slowly together,they walked up to the front door and Jake loudly said to his mum that they would go outside with his light brown dog. Happily they played outside. The End.

The Mum’s Perspective:

In the cold afternoon, I was driving on the dark grey road,the road was as dark as a black chalkboard!I drove past a pet store and thought maybe I could get a cool gift for Jake! Happily, I entered  the pet store and took a quick look around. Surprisingly, I found an adorable light brown puppy, but it had a missing leg. The puppy reminded me of Jake and I thought he would be an amazing friend for Jake. Quickly, I bought the puppy and  put him in a light brown box, then quickly drove home. As I entered my house Called out to Jake and said I was home. With excitement, I said to him there was a present for him. After my phone call from my boss I heard Jake say he was going outside and with happiness I smiled. The End.

Wairaka Legend Flashback

 

	Legend of Wairaka Retell
	Long ago, Wairaka the daughter of chief Toroa along with the Ngati Awa Tribe travelled throughout the oceans of Aotearoa. Surprisingly, they found a beautiful beach, when the Ngati Awa tribe reached the beach the men went to see if it was safe for the women and children while the children and women stayed on the beautifully carved waka. While the men were walking on the warm sand a sudden huge gust of wind drifted the women and children far from the Island.
	Sadly, the children cried and the women scarcely screamed of fear, all of a sudden big, fat, juicy raindrops fell from the sky, everyone thought the boat was going to capsize!
	Wisely, Wairaka knew it would be tapu for a woman to hold a paddle, Wairaka made her final decision and grabbed the paddle but with these final words she called out to her ancestors and said “Kia Whakatane au i ahau” which means let me act like a man .
